Hello, and welcome to the Karabou Review!
My name is Kara. I am an alumna of the University of Michigan, where I concentrated (i.e.: majored) in Creative Writing & Literature with quite a lot of psychology, French, linguistics, and history on the side.
I started the Karabou Review because I enjoy reading, watching films and TV shows, and perusing art galleries. This blog is a great space for me to ruminate on the rather massive amounts of media that I consume on a yearly basis; and it also serves as a great excuse to continue doing so …
To help you get to know me better and allow you to better estimate what I'll enjoy, here is a list of some of my very favorite pieces of literature in no particular order:
- The Historian - Elizabeth Kostova
- American Gods - Neil Gaiman
- Deathless - Cathrynne M. Valente
- A Clockwork Orange - Anthony Burgess
- Invisible Cities - Italo Calvino
- Psyche in a Dress - Francesca Lia Block
- Uprooted - Naomi Novik
- The Waste Land - T. S. Eliot
- The Library of Babel - Jorge Luis Borges
- In the Penal Colony - Franz Kafka
- The Hunter's Moon - O. R. Melling
Naturally, I haven't finished a review for any of these, yet. Maybe someday.
